City centre management

Each city or town should try to enhance the attraction of its centre to inhabitants, traders, companies and visitors. Various challenges are to be dealt with:

  • prevent or combat lack of occupancy
  • aim at an equally developed retail system
  • create an attractive public domain
  • improve traffic safety, accessibility and  parking possibilities
  • provide pleasant living and working conditions and a pleasant social climate
  • benefit from tourist-recreational assets

WES assists local governments in all phases of the policy cycle with respect to city centre management, through research and consultancy in the field of:

  • visionformulation and policy planning
  • city centre management evaluation and benchmarking with similar centres
